Have you heard of Hang Mioku? She was just an ordinary girl with big dreams of conquering the world alongside successful models and singers. However, she became famous for all the wrong reasons after succumbing to an unhealthy obsession with plastic surgery.

In today’s world, where appearance often takes center stage, the pursuit of beauty has become increasingly extreme. This obsession with looking perfect can have devastating effects, especially on young people.

Many individuals care deeply about their physical appearance and resort to wearing excessive makeup. Hang Mioku’s story serves as a tragic example of what can happen when one takes things to the extreme.

To truly understand how Hang Mioku ended up in this situation, we need to delve into her early life. Born in South Korea on July 8, 1963, there isn’t much information available about her childhood. However, we do know that she had aspirations of a career in the entertainment industry and opted not to pursue higher education.

During the 1980s, Hang Mioku entered the world of modeling and could be spotted in various advertising campaigns. While she also pursued a singing career, her primary focus was on maintaining her looks. Given her profession as a model, it is understandable that she paid great attention to her appearance.

South Korea is often referred to as the “plastic surgery capital of the world,” and Hang Mioku’s story is closely tied to this phenomenon. In pursuit of her desired appearance, Hang underwent her first surgery at the young age of 28. Unfortunately, this marked the beginning of a dangerous addiction as she continued to seek more and more procedures.

Hang’s initial surgery took place in South Korea, where cosmetic surgery rates are the highest globally. Seoul, the capital city, is renowned for its abundance of aesthetic centers, with 500 of them located in the Gangnam neighborhood alone.

Growing up in a highly competitive society, Hang Mioku was influenced by the plastic surgery “boom” in South Korea. The constant pressure to compare oneself to others fueled the popularity of cosmetic procedures in the country.

Later, Hang moved to Japan after her initial surgery in Korea. Unfortunately, complications began to arise. Some of the treatments she received for her face went awry, resulting in a drastic alteration in her appearance. When she returned home to her parents, they failed to recognize their own daughter. Concerned for her well-being, her parents swiftly took her to the hospital for the necessary care and treatment.

It is likely that Hang Mioku struggled with mental illness, and although she received some treatment, she had to discontinue it due to financial constraints. Instead, she went back under the knife for further cosmetic enhancements.

Even with her face in disarray, Hang remained determined to undergo more cosmetic surgeries. However, finding a plastic surgeon willing to perform the procedures became increasingly challenging because her deteriorating mental health was discernible. Nonetheless, she eventually found someone who provided her with black market silicone and advised her to self-inject it, leading to horrifying results.

But Hang’s misfortunes didn’t stop there. When she eventually ran out of silicone and money, she made a grave mistake and opted to inject cooking oil into her face. This decision left her unrecognizable and caused irreparable damage.

Eventually, Hang Mioku sought medical attention as her situation garnered increasing attention. Through public donations, she was able to afford some essential surgeries. In 2008, doctors removed 60 grams of foreign substances from her face and 200 grams from her neck.

Despite undergoing ten surgeries, Hang is still left with visible scars and serious disfigurement. According to reports, she now works at The Beautiful Shop, a recycled apparel business. However, it is challenging to find up-to-date information about her current condition or wellbeing as she has been out of the public eye and away from social media for quite some time.

Although Hang Mioku brought this tragedy upon herself, it is essential to remember that she was battling inner struggles—a plight similar to people who struggle with issues like binge eating, self-harm, or substance abuse. The outcome is heart-wrenching, and we can only hope that Hang is feeling better today.
