Eric Christian Olsen rose to fame after joining NCIS Los Angeles. The 44-year-old actor, who has portrayed Marty Deeks on the show for 12 years, has admitted that it can be difficult to stay in character when not on camera.

In addition to being a star on NCIS: Los Angeles, Olsen and his wife, Sarah Wright, have three children.

Though he may not appear to be the fittest or most trained person on the planet, recent images of him out for a walk paint a quite different picture.

Eric Christian Olsen was born on May 31, 1977, in Eugene, Oregon. Eric’s father, an English professor, used to tell him stories as a child, which began his interest in storytelling.

Eric was reared in Bettendorf, Iowa, despite being born in Oregon. He grew up enjoying sports and was a member of the community hockey team as a youngster.

Eric also took part in a number of school plays. He wasn’t much of a troublemaker, but his mother Jeanne said he was skilled at getting out of things he didn’t want to do.

“If he didn’t like something, like a class or lessons,” she says, “he worked out how to convince the teacher to say, ‘I think you should pull him out of this.’”

Olsen disagreed with the account of events, saying his piano teacher smelt “strange.” “By the way, the piano teacher lady smelt strange,” Olsen commented to his mother. She responded, “You did that to two piano teachers.” “But they both smelt strange,” he retorted.

Olsen was passionate with music. In fourth grade, he performed in a school musical. That was a stunning event for his parents, as his mother Jeanne had no idea her son could sing.

“I had no idea he could sing.” And he walks out on stage, and I’m terrified. “Then he turns around and faces the audience, puts his arms out, and begins to sing,” she explained.

“Because of his presence, I practically stood there with my mouth open.” And he wasn’t terrified or nervous in the least.

“His father told him, ‘If you’re nervous, that’s a good thing because it makes you better.’ He later exited the stage, saying, ‘I was so nervous, then I wasn’t nervous.’ He was simply a natural. That’s when I realized this kid was something exceptional.”

Eric clearly had something exceptional, exactly as his mother had claimed. He eventually finished from high school and moved to Los Angeles to pursue another dream.

Surprisingly, that dream did not involve performing. Instead, Olsen enrolled at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, on a full scholarship in 1998. Of course, he had to find a means to pay for the other 25%, which is when the idea of producing advertisements came to him.

Commercials quickly evolved into larger productions, and Olsen landed modest television and film roles, including one episode of ER in 1999 and 22 episodes of Get Real in 1999 and 2000. Eric hit success the following year when he starred in the classic picture Pearl Harbor.

Olsen was 19 years old at the time and had only $300 in his possession. As an actor, it’s typical to receive a residual check, which means you are paid when the picture sells on DVD or airs on another platform. Of course, Pearl Harbor was a big success, which made Olsen’s life easier for a while.

“I’m on campus checking my mail.” I’m not even sure I was wearing a shirt. And I open this small mailbox to find [the remaining check] for $21,000 dollars.”
In 2007, I received my diploma.

Eric was able to relax a little more about paying for his half of his education. So it was that he fell in love with acting while studying at Pepperdine. He did not receive his diploma until 2007. Even for aspiring performers, Eric believes that a good education is essential.

“All those movies I did between 1998 and 2007, I was juggling school at the same time.” People were asking me why I was still going to school, and I kept answering, “Why are you still going to school?” You’ve done these movies and this television; forget about it.’ “I didn’t because I believe it’s probably the most important thing we can do,” Olsen added.

“There’s nothing better than, I mean, whatever it takes, especially in today’s job environment.” We all take out loans and put ourselves in debt, but everyone who asks me, ‘I want to be an actor, what should I do?’ ‘Go to college,’ I urge. If you can attend college in Los Angeles or New York, where you might be able to perform commercial work and audition, go for it. Pick anything else you enjoy and are passionate about, and major in it.”

Olsen attended culinary school in addition to Pepperdine. Yet, he eventually opted to pursue a career in acting. Following Pearl Harbor, Olsen appeared in films such as Not Another Teen Movie (2001) and Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd (2003), among others. Olsen won the job of a lifetime after several years of working television and movies while still graduating from Pepperdine.

Eric was cast as Marty Deeks in the television series NCIS Los Angeles in 2010. The original series NCIS, starring Mark Harmon, had aired for seven years at that point, and the show’s creators had decided it was time to expand to other places.

Eric, along with Chris O’Donnell, Linda Hunt, and LL Cool J, rose to fame virtually overnight. As of now, the Oregon native has appeared in 265 episodes of the popular show.

Olsen, as previously said, attended culinary school while also attending college. He was an actress by day and an aspiring chef at Le Cordon Bleu by night when NCIS Los Angeles initially aired.

“I knew I was going to do a pilot season, and the thought of doing just that without throwing in fresh information didn’t sound appealing,” he told Vulture in 2011.

“In culinary school, none of the things we use to define ourselves outside of that realm — actor, producer, student — none of those things matter.” It’s a fantastic type of art.”

“I was only there for six weeks of an eight-month course before I had to leave out to start filming,” he said, adding, “but I’ll go back.” “You’re working five hours a night, making three dinners, two appetizers, side dishes, and sauces, with six stoves blazing and fire everywhere — and it becomes zen.” It’s similar to a runner’s high.”

His major job soon became NCIS Los Angeles. Olsen noted that the show requires them to work 60 to 70 hours per week. To avoid LA traffic, they began filming as early as 5.30 a.m.

“I got to work with people that everyone talks about, you know, you make a movie, you go away, you’re with these folks, and then it’s over,” he remarked.

“It’s like going on a summer vacation.” But on NCIS, we shoot 60 to 70 hours a week for ten months out of the year. It truly feels like a family. You’re stuck with these folks, whether you like them or not. Everyone says that, but we were very fortunate.”

Eric’s net worth is currently around $13 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Entering character is one of the most crucial things for any actor to master. As a result, some performers go to great lengths to help the process, even “becoming” their roles months before filming begins.

Breaking character was the most difficult part for Eric, who has played a cop on NCIS Los Angeles for many years.

According to Eric, it was almost as if he had transformed into a police officer, which was evident in one instance when his preparation for the show came in handy in real life.

“I’m on the ten freeway.” I’m in the far left lane when a black, windowless van speeds by me on the side lane corner and collides with the Porsche in front of me, taking out their mirror. “I could hear her scream from my car,” he said on Conan.

Eric dialed 9-1-1. He did, however, begin to follow the vehicle that had hit the other automobile.

“911, what is the nature of your emergency?” ‘There’s a black, windowless vehicle heading eastbound on the 10 motorway,’ I added. Tango Charlie 371 is the license plate,” he said.

“‘Well, where are you right now?’ says the woman.” ‘Oh, I’m on 10,’ I said. We are currently crossing the 405 in pursuit. And she exclaims, ‘What?!’ And I’m like, ‘What?!’ ‘I’m sorry, sir, did you just say pursuit?’ she said. ‘Oh, no, no, no!’ I exclaimed. ‘Sir, are you following the vehicle?’ she asks. Do not follow the vehicle, sir. We’ve called the cops. “Do not pursue the vehicle!”

Eric has risen to prominence as a result of his appearances on NCIS Los Angeles. It also turns out that his position on the popular show has turned into a family affair.

He plays Marty Deeks in films and is married to Daniela Ruah’s character Kensi Blye. Ruah and David Olsen are in-laws despite their on-screen romance because Ruah is David’s wife.

There will be kissing in an on-screen romance. Daniela is Olsen’s brother-in-law, therefore she admitted that it could be awkward.

“The conventional response would be yes [it’s strange to kiss Eric], but we’re so committed in our characters,” she stated in 2015. “And we’re really fascinated because the audience has been following these characters, and they’re pleased with what’s going on in the program.”

“We’re trying to stay true to that more than anything else.” Dave is in the business, and Eric’s wife is an actress, and I think everyone understands how it feels.”
“He recognizes that this is a job.”

Professional performers like Olsen and Ruah don’t mind having a love relationship on film.

Even though it’s part of their job, one can understand David feeling weird about his brother kissing his wife. In reality, he’s really sympathetic.

“We’ve been putting on the show. That is our responsibility, Olsen told CBS. “[My brother] used to be a [Navy] SEAL, but he’s now out, but he does stunt work and a bunch of other stuff.” So he conducts stunts on our show as well as a few others. He gets it; he realizes this is a job.”

Daniela elaborated on the situation in an interview with Parade, saying, “I think if Eric and I said, ‘We’re not doing these things because we’re related,’ it would be a terrible injustice to the program and to the viewers.” The main goal is to keep viewers interested in the show and invested in the characters’ development.

Eric Christian Olsen also has a gorgeous family and is a dedicated husband and father.

While working on the comedy The Loop in 2006, he met his future wife, Sarah Wright. Sarah is an accomplished actress who has been in a number of films and television shows throughout the years.

Eric confessed that he initially thought she was picked in the role because of her “very stunning” features rather than her talent.

“The first time we met, I was mean to you,” he admits.

Meanwhile, Sarah believed Eric was a “huge jerk.”

“But, at the first table read, you laughed at my jokes and then came over to me and apologized,” Sarah continued.

Eric and Sarah would eventually start dating. They got engaged in Mexico after five years.

“No one makes me laugh harder or happier than you.” Nobody will be a better mother than you. I want to be with you for the rest of my life. “Would you marry me?” he remembered asking as he proposed.

In 2012, the couple married in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Wyatt, their son, was born a year later. Sarah and Eric then had a daughter named Esme in 2016.

In September 2020, the couple announced the birth of their third child, a daughter.

“She’s arrived!!!” As we jointly manage the turbulence and existential crisis that is 2020, we rely on the things that are most important to us. Sarah posted on Instagram, “Family, friends, and human connection.”

“She’s 10 pounds and 4 ounces of newborn pleasure.” Mom and baby are doing well, and they are safe at home, surrounded by a cuddle puddle of children and enormous dogs. Life is both amazing and transitory; love without fear.”

Eric Christian Olsen has won the heart of the NCIS Los Angeles audience. I hope he will continue to appear on the show for a long time. Despite his hectic schedule on NCIS Los Angeles, Eric always makes time for his family.

The 44-year-old has certainly had more spare time recently.

Supporters are astounded by the transformation the father of three has undergone after spending several hours in the gym, indicating that he has used it efficiently.

“One advantage of heavy workouts during the pandemic is that you will have the strength to huck your children higher into the sky…

Isn’t that the ultimate purpose of responsible parenting?” Olsen shared a photo of himself and his daughter Esme on Instagram.

Eric Christian Olsen has won the heart of the NCIS Los Angeles audience. I hope he keeps appearing on the show for a long time. His family is absolutely wonderful, and we wish them all the best in the future.
