Emergency services were called to the scene after receiving a 911 call regarding an unresponsive person in the region. At least seven witnesses claimed that the 34-year-old man “dove headfirst from an embankment approximately 40 feet high into a pool of water that was approximately 4 feet deep.”

According to Gladewater Police, those who saw the man dive assisted take him out of the water and attempted to help. When emergency personnel arrived, they tried to revive the sufferer, but he died as a result of his injuries.

According to the police, preliminary findings suggest that alcohol may have had a role in the occurrence. Off the main body of the lake, at an area “surrounded by tall embankments, shallow water, and [with] a rocky bottom,” according to authorities, the tragedy took place.
