Selena Gomez has described why she delegated management of her social media accounts to her assistant following a split.

Gomez, 30, has previously stated that she outsources her own social sites to her staff, choosing to avoid Instagram, where she has 378 million followers.

In a new interview with Vanity Fair, she described why she made the decision, which originates from a difficult split in the past.

“I never got the chance to go to a genuine high school,” the star confessed. For the longest time, the world was my high school, and I was swamped with material I didn’t want.

“I went through a bad period in a breakup and I didn’t want to read any of the [feedback]—not necessarily about the relationship, but the opinions of me against [someone] else. There could be thousands of extremely great remarks, but my mind automatically goes to the unpleasant one.”

“People can call me ugly or stupid, and I’m like, whatever,” she concluded. But these folks go into great depth.

“They write such detailed and harsh paragraphs. I’d be crying all the time. I was frequently anxious… I couldn’t take it any longer. It was a complete waste of my time.”

While she has troubles with social media in general, she admits to having a favorite platform, which she uses for anything from recipes to beauty ideas.

“The only thing I have on my phone is TikTok because I find it less antagonistic,” Gomez explained.

“There are amazing things about social media: connecting with people, seeing how pleased and excited they are, and hearing their tales.

“But, that is frequently filtered through [for me today]. I devised a system. I email everything I do to my helper, who posts it. “In terms of remarks, my staff will compile a few encouraging ones.”

“I adore making humorous videos,” Gomez remarked of TikTok videos. I’ll look up recipes, makeup tips, and hairstyles.”

When asked how she communicates with her Only Murders in the Building co-stars, she said that Martin Short texts her, but Steve Martin does not.

“He has my email, but he won’t send it to me,” she stated of Martin, 77.

“He’ll forward it to [my assistant]. I believe he wishes to be nice. It’s cute, but he turns it into a complete thing.”
