Dick Van Dyke was involved in a car accident in Malibu last week, but he escaped with minor injuries.

After losing control of his automobile, the actor allegedly crashed into a gate while driving in Malibu. According to law enforcement sources, when they responded to a complaint of a single-vehicle accident, they discovered Van Dyke driving a 2018 Lexus LS 500.

According to reports, the 97-year-old told responding officers that his car had slid off the road due to the rain. Van Dyke then veered off course and collided with the gate.

The iconic actor, who has been a presence on television for many years, escaped serious injury in the incident but was left with bleeding from the lips and nose, and he could have had a concussion.

Despite this, the Mary Poppins star declined to go to the hospital and was instead treated on the spot by paramedics.

Notwithstanding the fact that no drugs or alcohol were present, the DMV has received documents from authorities requesting another test for Van Dyke, according to sources. His elderly age is one of the most essential factors in his decision.

Given that the actor will turn 98 later this year, the fact that he is still entirely self-sufficient and able to travel by car is absolutely remarkable.

So, how can the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang actor be so active in his latter years? According to a recent interview, Van Dyke credits his wife, Arlene Silver.

The husband and wife are 46 years apart in age because Silver is 51. That may seem weird to some, but the couple is really happy together, and Van Dyke claims his youth is owed in part to his marriage to someone considerably younger.

When asked what his secret is, Van Dyke replied:

“Having a lovely young wife half my age to look after me – that works!” “I derive my cheerful outlook from my wife.”

The actor also attributed his longevity to “genes” and a strong exercise regimen: “I still go to the gym three days a week and work hard.” And I encourage everyone to do so since that is what ages individuals — tightening up and not exercising their muscles and lungs. Exercise is the solution.”

Above all, his marriage to Silver has clearly given him a new lease on life.

“We have a similar approach,” Van Dyke says. “She has the ability to go with the flow. She enjoys singing and dancing, which we do nearly every day. She’s simply delightful.”

Meanwhile, Silver described her spouse as “the most amazing human being.”

“I’ve never encountered somebody so joyful, sincere, and amazing.” “He’s like a joyful pill.”

Van Dyke has already been married twice for a lengthy time. He was married to Margerie Willett from 1948 until their divorce in 1984, and they had four children. Michelle Triola Marvin and he were married from 1976 until her death in 2009.

Van Dyke and Silver married in 2012, when they were both 40 years old. Van Dyke was first concerned about the audience’s reaction to their age difference.

“I expected an uproar over a gold digger marrying an old man,” he said, “but no one ever took that stance.”

We are overjoyed and grateful that Dick Van Dyke did not sustain serious injuries in the car accident. In his field, he is a great inspiration and a living legend.
