Jimmy Carter was the 39th President of the United States from 1977 to 1981, and was regarded as a breath of fresh air following the Nixon and Ford administrations.

They admire him because he is a family man who never took advantage of his post-presidential fame. “I don’t see anything wrong with it; I don’t blame other people for doing it,” President Carter is quoted as saying. It was never my aim to get wealthy.”

The Carters have always led a quite ordinary and humble existence. Most notably, The Rolling Stone reported in 2011 that the former president shops at the local Dollar General.

He and his wife have been involved with Habitat for Humanity for many years, helping to renovate around 4,300 dwellings in 14 different countries.

Regrettably, his nonprofit, The Carter Center, issued a statement that grieved many people. Former President Jimmy Carter has been admitted to hospice after many medical visits.

“Following a series of short hospital stints, former US President Jimmy Carter has elected to spend his remaining time at home with his family and receive hospice care instead of extra medical intervention. His family and medical staff are completely behind him.”

He has had various significant health difficulties throughout the years, including brain cancer. He had brain surgery in 2019 to relieve the growing strain.

According to CNN, Carter is the oldest living president as of 2018, following the death of George H.W. Bush at the age of 94.

Jimmy Carter is a former farmer, a US Navy Lieutenant, and a Sunday School teacher in addition to being a former President.
Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter have lived in Plains, Georgia, since the day they left the White House and handed over the presidency to Ronald Reagan in 1981. The house, which is worth $209,996 according to Zillow, was erected in 1961, when the Carters had their fourth child and needed a larger space.

Carter returned to his roots after serving as president because he did not want to “capitalize monetarily on being in the White House,” according to the Washington Post.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Jimmy Carter and his family as they continue to support him at this difficult time.
