Whether you like her or not, there is one thing everyone can agree on when it comes to Oprah Winfrey: she is a brilliant show host.

Her life, however, has not always been easy. She had to go through some terrible times when she was younger, but those experiences just made her stronger and more determined to succeed.

Oprah is currently seeing her longtime lover, Stedman Graham. The couple has been engaged for 29 years, but they have never exchanged vows; scroll down to find out why.

Although they haven’t addressed the rumors, some magazines think that the couple plans to marry in a quiet ceremony at their lavish Montesito home.

The truth is that they both frequently indicated in the past that getting married would simply complicate matters and that their relationship would not have survived.

Oprah and Graham don’t have any children, and they’re fine with it because it’s something they both desired.

“He’s never demanding anything from me like, ‘Where’s my breakfast? ‘Where has my meal gone?’ “None of that, which I thought would have changed if we had married,” Oprah Winfrey said about her fiancé, according to Yahoo.

“No question about it — we would not stay married, because of what it would have meant to him, and I would have had my own opinions about it. I have had no regrets about it.

“At one point in Chicago, I bought an extra apartment because I thought, ‘Oh, if we get married, I’m going to need room for children,’” she continued.

Oprah said she believes motherhood needed duty and “sacrifice.”

“I realized, ‘Whoa, I’m talking to a lot of messed-up folks, and they’re messed-up because their mothers and fathers were unaware of how serious that job is,” she told People.

“I don’t have the ability to compartmentalize like other ladies do. It’s why, over the years, I’ve had the highest regard for women who choose to stay at home with their children, because I don’t know how you do it all day. Nobody gives women the credit they deserve.”

Oprah was pregnant and gave birth to a boy at one time in her life. She was only 14 years old at the time. The boy was born prematurely and died soon after, according to the host. According to news.com.au, she spoke about the experience at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia.

“I did an interview with a reporter before coming to Australia, and she suggested you should name the infant son who died,” Oprah reportedly told the 15,000-strong audience, according to People. “So I named him; I had a small child named Canaan,” she allegedly remarked, without elaborating on the spelling. “Yes, I had a son. Then I named him Canaan, which means “new country, new life.”

The pregnancy was the product of sexual abuse, something Oprah has previously discussed. “I was raped at 9 years old by a cousin, then again by another family member, then again by another family member,” Winfrey allegedly stated, adding that she tried to conceal her pregnancy at 14 because she felt “pain and embarrassment.”

Despite the fact that the experience was unpleasant, it shaped her into the powerful woman she is today.
