Shannen Doherty’s condition has been updated.

The 52-year-old actress previously said that she was given a stage 4 breast cancer diagnosis in February 2020, but on Tuesday she added that a CT scan from January 5 revealed the existence of brain metastases.

According to the Mayo Clinic, if you have cancer and it goes to your brain, you could have this disease.

She captioned an Instagram video of her having radiation therapy, “January 12, the first round of radiation took place. “It’s clear I’m afraid. There was a lot going on in my life, and I suffer from severe claustrophobia.

She stated, “I am blessed to have fantastic doctors like Dr. Amin Mirahdi and the incredible technologists at Cedar Sinai. “But this is what cancer can look like. The anxiety, the confusion, the timing of it all.”

Doherty revealed the news in an Instagram video she posted on June 5 in which she can be seen getting a mask made especially for her treatment and writing the date “January 9, 2023” on it.

During a Charmed panel moderated by PEOPLE’s Breanne L. Heldman at the March 90s Con, Doherty provided fans with an update on her health alongside Rose McGowan, Holly Marie Combs, Brian Krause, Dorian Gregory, and Drew Fuller.

Doherty will respond, “I’m feeling great, thank you!” if you inquire about her wellbeing. … What an incredible attendance!

Following her 2015 diagnosis and 2017 admission that her breast cancer had come back after a remission, Doherty has often kept her followers informed of her health situation.

“Is everything lovely? NO, but it’s real, and by sharing, I hope that we can all learn more and gain a better understanding of what cancer looks like. She made her statement on Instagram in October 2021. “I hope I’ve inspired people to get mammograms, to have routine checkups, to overcome their fears, and to take on whatever may be in front of them,” she said.
