Lisa Marie Presley, the daughter of the legendary musician Elvis Presley, recently passed away. In her will, she left everything, including partial control of her father’s estate, to her daughters. However, Lisa Marie’s mother, Priscilla, is contesting the will and fighting an amendment to the document that she claims is invalid.

Priscilla’s Concerns

Joel Weinshanker, the managing partner at Elvis Presley Enterprises, shed some light on the situation. He revealed that Lisa Marie was “quite certain” that she wanted her children to carry on her father’s legacy. According to Weinshanker, there was never any doubt in Lisa Marie’s mind that her children, Riley Keough and Benjamin Keough, would be the stewards of Elvis’ estate.

Unfortunately, Benjamin Keough tragically passed away in 2020. This left Riley, along with twins Harper and Finley Lockwood, as the co-trustees of Lisa Marie’s Trust, which includes the famous Graceland property and 15% ownership of Elvis’ estate.

The Amendment and Priscilla’s Contest

While Weinshanker insists that Lisa Marie wanted her children to take charge of her trust, Priscilla is not so sure. A 2010 amendment to the will initially stated that Priscilla and Barry Siegel, her former business manager, would be co-trustees. However, in 2016, an amendment was made that named Lisa Marie’s children as the co-trustees instead. Priscilla is contesting this amendment, claiming that she had no prior knowledge of the change.

Priscilla argues that the 2016 amendment is invalid, as she did not receive the amendment while Lisa Marie was alive, as required by the express terms of the Trust. She also raises concerns about the authenticity and validity of the amendment, pointing out that her name was misspelled, the amendment was not witnessed or notarized, and Lisa Marie’s signature is inconsistent with her usual signature.

Lisa Marie’s Legacy

The outcome of Priscilla’s petition remains uncertain. However, it is clear that Lisa Marie wanted her children to carry on her father’s legacy. Despite her mother’s claims, Lisa Marie was certain that Riley and Benjamin would continue the stewardship of Elvis’ estate.

The legal battle continues, with Priscilla seeking to protect her interests and ensure that the intentions of her daughter’s will are upheld. As the case unfolds, the future of Elvis Presley’s estate and his iconic legacy hangs in the balance.
