A sweet 85-year-old woman spends her free time on a street corner waving, kissing, and giving “air hugs” to strangers driving by.

Helen Jusic has been waving to her neighbors from a street corner in Bridgeland, Calgary, for several years. This little act of generosity has not only given hundreds of her neighbors hope, smiles, and brightened their days, but it has also made her feel good.

“This lady stands on the corner every day in Bridgeland and waves, blows kisses, and gives imitation embraces to everyone who drives by,” Kerry Bennett, a Calgary resident, wrote in an online post. “This is so heartwarming!” “I’ll bring her flowers.”

Helen began waving at passing motorists towards the start of the epidemic, when she was dealing with self-isolation and unable to volunteer at the nursing home where she normally assists.

“I was quite busy before the virus arrived. “I was volunteering a lot… here in a nursing home (and with disabled children),” Helen explained. “But, once the virus arrived, they no longer required volunteers. I live on my own. I was in the house and felt like a caged bird. I lost contact with people, and I grew melancholy and anxious.”
“So, what am I going to do?
… That’s not just me playing photo puzzles or whatever… I was in desperate need of something. Please help me, I begged the Lord. Help me, Lord, to find something to do.”
Helen was out walking one day during this period of her life when she noticed a bus driving by. She raised her arm and waved on the spur of the moment, and the bus driver smiled and waved back. She then waved to the next automobile passing by, and then to another truck. It was bringing joy to many.

“I explained that there is something I can do. There is something there. “That’s how I got started,” Helen explained. “I’m just saying hello and wishing you a pleasant day or God’s blessings.”
Helen began standing on a street corner in her area, waving and smiling to passing automobiles every day. She also gives “air hugs” and blows kisses to express how much she cares for everyone.

Kerry Bennett, a Calgary resident, expressed her gratitude for the “woman on the corner’s” waves and smiles.

“I felt like I was getting a hug that I’d truly been lacking for a year kind of thing. She has certainly improved my day.”
Eileen March, another neighbor who drives by Helen every day, recounted how it brightened her days.

“To me, it’s a ray of sunshine in what’s been a difficult year, so seeing her out there every day is simply a joy,” Eileen said.

Matt Mister and Alli Marshall, two additional neighbors down the street, have also expressed gratitude for her generosity.

“If your window is open, she adds, ‘I’m sending you love; I love you. ‘You’re stunning,’ she says. Matt stated.

“The first time I saw her, it really hit me in the heart, you know?” Alli Marshall, his partner, joined in. “She was using her life’s energy to share a lot of love with the neighborhood at a time when we all needed some optimism. “I think she’s a wonderful person.”

Helen’s videos have gone viral, and thousands of people have expressed their gratitude. Individuals from her town and all across the world have been mailing her thank you messages and flowers.

“Wow, that’s incredible. What a wonderful person. “Can you image a world full of people who believe like her?” one glad heart asked.
“Very sweet. When and where does she do this? “My mother lives in Calgary, and I want her to drive by and feel the love,” said another.
“I never imagined something like this would happen,” Helen, a Calgary resident for over 35 years, said. “When I was young, I was introverted and shy and somehow I survived, and now I can’t believe that’s me. The goodness, I just want to cry. I must praise God. Anything like that can only be orchestrated by God. I had no idea it would be so significant.”
One of Helen’s favorite thank you messages came from an unidentified healthcare worker who signed the note “Your neighbor”.

“I utilize the drive home to relieve my mind and emotions from all the heaviness before I get home to my family’s needs and wants,” the note says. Your lovely gesture of kindness allows us all to be present in the moment and makes us smile.”
Helen is overjoyed that her small deed is making people happy.

“I cry with the goodness of a hug, knowing that I impact so many people in such a modest way, just to say hi…. “Hey, handsome!” “Something small becomes so large…” she explained.
