Raising children nowadays can be a difficult task in and of itself. In addition to receiving advice from family members, young parents must endure criticism on their parenting practices from complete strangers online.

Jordan Driskell, a young father, gave birth to five quintuplets. His five-year-old quintuplets are five years old. As you might expect, raising five children of the same age may be extremely demanding. Especially at the age of 5, when a child is curious and enjoys exploring.

Jordan Driskell, a 31-year-old parent, decided to devise a novel solution to his problem. He bought children’s leashes to keep his rambunctious young children under control when they were out in public with him.

Driskell’s large family had previously utilized a stroller with six seats. Yet, because the children would be irritated by it, it would rapidly become dull. Carrying the stroller everywhere was also a tremendous pain.

When the family is away, the young children are free to walk and explore their surroundings without their father losing track of them or losing control of them, thereby keeping them safe.

Driskell posted a video of the family’s excursion to the aquarium, which sparked outrage from the parents. The viral video of the toddlers on leashes has been viewed by over 3 million people. Many people said the kids shouldn’t have been on leashes because they weren’t animals.

“If you can’t handle the pressure, don’t have too many kids,” others suggested.

Some gave scorn disguised as advise, saying, “Can’t you just properly train your children?” Explain to them why fleeing is dangerous.”

Dr. Deborah Gilboa, a parenting and adolescent development specialist, had a different point of view. She disagrees that wearing a leash will make your child feel like an animal. Of course, if staying at home is your sole option, a leash is a much better solution.

Dr. Gilboa believes that a leash is a good tool for restraining early toddlers or children with neurological problems in public. She did warn, however, that it could be troublesome if a neurotypical child is not autonomous by the ages of eight and nine and has thus not polished their listening ability.

By that point, parents should be able to interact with their children verbally without the use of gadgets such as leashes.

Parents should be able to parent in the way they see fit without fear of being judged by society.
