When she gave birth in February of that year, this 31-year-old Nigerian mother had no idea what she was in for. She can now easily recognize her sons’ identical twins. Despite the fact that Daniel and David were born only a few minutes apart, they bear little resemblance.

Albinos are the children of Stacy and Babajide, who are both black and live in Lagos. Because of their obviously different appearances, the charming twins frequently draw attention wherever they go. David is beautifully white, with pale skin and golden hair, but Daniel has dark skin and black curly hair, similar to his 5-year-old big sister Demilade.

Stacy’s choice to broadcast the odd couple’s activities on Instagram earned the twins nearly 18,000 followers after only a year.

Everyone was taken aback when the twins were born on February 26th, last year.

“We did not know about their differences when I was pregnant, the scan did not show such so it was a tremendous surprise and the most incredible moment when the first twin (Daniel) came out with black hair and the second twin (David) came out with gold hair. I had them via CS, so the doctors said, “It appears you are having entirely unidentical twins.” “Nurses started coming out to look at them before I knew it,” Stacy, a mother of three, explained.

The twins were easily distinguishable since one was black and the other was white.

Stacy shared her husband’s sincere reaction to this turn of events with us.

“Their father was overjoyed and instantly named My Twin 2 (David) ‘Golden,’ thus he affectionately refers to him as Mr. Golden. He was pleased to see his boys. He stared at them for more than ten minutes, saying he was just looking at God’s amazing craftsmanship and that they were his best gift ever.”

David has albinism, which is extremely rare; only one in every 20,000 newborns is born with this affliction.

Albinism is a hereditary disorder characterized by a lack of melanin, the pigment produced in the skin, hair, and eyes. All racial and ethnic groups are affected, and the type of pigmentation has variable degrees of influence. Albinism is a rare disorder with a birth chance of between 3,000 and 20,000. Albinos must exercise considerable caution because it can cause a variety of skin and visual issues.

David has beautiful golden hair and a light skin due to oculocutaneous albinism. Fortunately, Stacy maintains that David is in good health.

Nigeria has one of the highest rates of albinism in the world, with over two million confirmed or suspected instances. Nonetheless, data suggest that this community is still stigmatized due of the hue of its members’ skin. Approximately 600,000 Nigerians who are albino face prejudice and harassment from their peers, family, and communities, which frequently leads to career difficulties and scholastic failure.

Stacy did state that her two sons are both unconditionally and equally cherished, and that no one has ever said anything negative to her about them.

“Whenever we go out, there are usually side conversations, people often want to know how and what’s going on, and maybe because of their cute and adorable character, you simply want to come close to say hi.”

Because of their unusual characteristics, the twins’ family has received modeling offers from agencies in the United Kingdom. The family is ready to seize any possibilities that may arise, and they have set up an Instagram account to express their excitement and attract attention to important topics. Stacy and I decided to open an account for them to raise awareness because we believe they have a narrative to tell.

“They have two separate fantastic personalities, they are a year and a half old, walking and very playful,” Stacy explained.

“Daniel is more expressive, whereas David is a bystander. They are both quite inquisitive. Daniel is a gourmand, whilst David is a finicky eater; Daniel is tremendously fun, whereas David selects moments; Daniel always likes to play the older brother position; they are both lively.”
