If you’re used to flying, you’re probably used to the windowless window seats that are standard. While this isn’t really a secret, not many people are aware of these feared seats. As it turns out, not every seat in an airplane has a window, something folks on Twitter have been moaning about recently.

Traveler Kalie Marsch was the first to post a photo of her windowless seat with the caption “I’ve made a terrible, terrible, awful mistake.” Numerous other people were eager to express their sorrow. “The worst,” one person remarked. I’m a compulsive window-seater, and this would give me a mild panic attack.” “The least they could do is place a picture of a window there!” said another commenter.

Seats with no windows are an evil necessity.
A travel website, The Points Man UK, also mentioned their recent problems with this windowless window seat. They submitted a photo of their airline seat to MailOnline Travel. Afterwards, Nicky Kelvin, the travel site’s Head, explained why these seats were required. “They’re frequently caused by the manufacturer utilising that area to feed specific avionics (aviation electronics) or vital components like air-conditioning ducting.” Because the design determines window location on the emergency exit door, which typically leads in a blocked view, most emergency exit window seats do not offer a window view.” The best method to avoid this problem is to utilize any booking service that provides a seat arrangement of the aircraft that you may be flying on.

Virgin Australia, one of the country’s major airlines, recently noted in a blog post that their seat 9A on the Boeing aircraft was windowless. This was done to ensure that the panel used to support the whole distribution of the air conditioning ducts was robust enough not to fall on the passengers’ heads.

If you fly Ryanair, you’ll see a small pop-up message that says, “Oh, and if you’re booking with Ryanair, it’s worth remembering that the windowless seats generally tend to be 11A and 11F, in case you’ve paid to select a seat.” Yet, no airline company will refund your money because a seat is nothing more than a seat to them. So you might as well make the most of your window seat by sleeping the entire trip.
