Angelina Jolie and David Mayer de Rothschild dined out together.

On Thursday, the actress, 47, and the British environmentalist, 44, were seen leaving Nobu in Malibu, California. According to Page Six, the outing lasted three hours.

Jolie was photographed leaving the restaurant in a black dress with side cutouts. She completed the look with black heels and matching sunglasses.

Meanwhile, Mayer de Rothschild looked casually cool in a pair of jeans, a blue shirt, and a blue blazer, which he teamed with black shoes.

Jolie’s representatives did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Jolie’s meeting with Mayer de Rothschild came months after the actress announced her resignation as a Special Envoy for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in December.

In a statement at the time, Jolie said she was “grateful for the privilege and opportunity I have had to work with so many outstanding and dedicated UNHCR field officers and other colleagues doing lifesaving work globally, and to serve as Special Envoy.”

“I will continue to do everything in my power to support refugees and other displaced people in the coming years,” she said. “After 20 years in the UN system, I believe it is time for me to work differently, engaging directly with refugees and local organizations and supporting their advocacy for solutions.”

According to a source close to the actress, Jolie “decided to leave UNHCR in order to devote more of her efforts to supporting groups led by those most directly affected by conflict, to help empower them and lift their voices and leadership.” She has worked with locally managed groups such as Cambodia’s MJP Foundation, which she started in 2003.

“As an outsider, she will be more effective,” the source added. “She’s always been like that, more concerned with the people than the system.”

Jolie had worked with UNHCR since 2001 as part of her many humanitarian activities, and was appointed Special Envoy in 2012.
