Recently, a wave of discussion has been circulating online suggesting that President Donald Trump may have experienced a stroke sometime last year, in 2025, and that the White House has allegedly kept the situation quiet.

The idea was raised by Professor Bruce Davidson, a medical specialist affiliated with Washington State Universityโs Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine. Davidson shared his perspective during an episode of the podcast The Court of History, hosted by biographer Sidney Blumenthal and historian Sean Wilentz.
According to Davidson, if such an event did occur, it may have involved the left side of Trumpโs brain. A stroke in that region typically affects the right side of the body. Based on the public appearances he has reviewed, Davidson speculated that the incident could have taken place around six months ago or at some point earlier in 2025.
The professor pointed to several observations he believes could be relevant when looking at recent videos and appearances involving the president.
One detail he mentioned was Trumpโs walking style in certain clips. In some footage, Davidson says Trump appears to shuffle his feet slightly, which seems different from the confident and steady stride people are accustomed to seeing, particularly when he is walking on the golf course.
Another observation involves the way Trump has occasionally positioned his hands. At times, he appears to cradle his right hand within his left, which Davidson suggested might indicate some discomfort or weakness.

Davidson also referenced moments earlier in 2025 when Trumpโs speech seemed somewhat garbled or less clear than usual. He noted that these instances appeared to improve over time, which could potentially be consistent with recovery from a neurological episode.
Additionally, he mentioned episodes of what he described as excessive daytime sleepiness. In a few public settings, Trump appeared to briefly nod off or look unusually tired. Davidson noted that this kind of fatigue is relatively common among individuals who have experienced a stroke.
One image that has drawn attention shows Trump descending the stairs of Air Force One. In that photograph, he is holding the handrail with his left hand, even though he is known to be right-handed. Davidson suggested that relying on the left hand for stability could align with the possibility of weakness on the right side.
Another photograph that sparked discussion online shows a visible bruise on the back of Trumpโs right hand during a meeting at the White House.
When reporters asked about the bruise earlier in the year, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt offered an explanation. She stated that the president frequently develops bruises on his hands simply because he spends so much time greeting people and shaking hands at events and meetings.
Davidson also suggested that if Trump did experience a stroke, it appears he may have recovered quite significantly. Some of the signs he initially noticed seem to have improved in later appearances. The professor even speculated that Trumpโs bold and unpredictable governing style during his second term might reflect the mindset some people develop after facing a serious health scare โ a sense of urgency that encourages them to act decisively because they feel time may be limited.
However, it is important to emphasize that none of these claims have been officially confirmed. There has been no statement from Trump acknowledging such an event, and no medical records have been released to support the theory. Davidsonโs comments are based entirely on public observations rather than direct medical involvement with the president.
The White House has strongly rejected the speculation. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told media outlets, including The Daily Beast, that Trumpโs physician, Dr. Sean Barbabella, has repeatedly confirmed that the president is in excellent overall health. She dismissed the circulating reports as false and politically motivated, arguing that they resemble the way the media previously handled concerns about President Joe Bidenโs health.
Leavitt added that stories like these contribute to declining public trust in the media, which she claims has already reached historically low levels.
In recent months, Trumpโs health has been the subject of various conversations anyway. Some of the speculation has centered on the bruises occasionally seen on his hands, which the White House attributes to constant handshaking during public events.
His eating habits have also been discussed publicly. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. once joked during a podcast that Trumpโs fondness for McDonaldโs, candy, and Diet Coke is remarkable, suggesting humorously that the president seems to possess โthe constitution of a deity.โ
There were also online discussions after a 9/11 anniversary event where some viewers believed they noticed a slight drooping on one side of Trumpโs face, which fueled further speculation.
In the end, without verified medical evidence or an official announcement from Trump or his doctors, these claims remain speculative. The theories continue to circulate, but the official stance from the administration is that President Trump remains energetic, mentally sharp, and fully capable of carrying out his duties.
So the question remains: is there any truth behind these observations, or is it simply another wave of political speculation spreading online?
