Julie and Andy Kemp, together with their eight-year-old son Landon, were travelling home from church when they were involved in an automobile accident. As the tragedy struck, they were hit by an ambulance speeding back to its station. Andy died at the scene, and Julie tried to remain conscious. They were able to stabilize her when rescue arrived, but they had no idea Landon was still in the car. He was in the backseat, and medics only spotted him when they noticed his shoe at the scene. The car was so badly wrecked that the youngster was obscured from view.
Following several attempts, medics were able to resuscitate Landon, who had been discovered comatose and not breathing. The youngster was transported to the hospital, where he escaped twice more. Things were not looking good for the small kid, and his mother was informed that his chances of survival were limited.
Doctors indicated that even if the boy lived, he would be like an infant trapped in the body of an eight-year-old boy and would be unable to live a normal life.
Julie went through hell in the two weeks following the accident. She had to witness her son battle for her life after burying her husband.
Landon was in a coma, and it appeared like he would not survive, but then he opened his eyes. Doctors referred to his survival as a miracle. They were astounded to hear that, after everything, he had not suffered brain damage.
Julie didn’t know what to tell Landon about his father now that he was awake. She asked Landon if he knew what had happened to him, and he said, “Yeah, I saw him.” He also claimed to have seen one of his father’s friends who had died a month before his father died. Landon also noticed his friend’s son. “None of us said anything to any other, but we were all just standing there,” the child recalled.
Julie was surprised when her son told her that he saw his mother’s two other children when he was in a coma. At first, she didn’t comprehend what he was saying, but then she remembered.
