Billionaire Elon Musk recently visited the southern border in Texas, offering an “unfiltered” view of the ongoing migrant crisis. During his visit to Eagle Pass, a city that declared a state of emergency due to the unprecedented arrival of thousands of migrants, Musk livestreamed his first-hand observations. While discussing the issue with Texas Rep. Tony Gonzales, Musk emphasized the presence of “some pretty extreme” individuals crossing into the US.

Wearing a cowboy hat and aviator sunglasses, Musk voiced his support for expanded legal immigration. However, he made it clear that he believes individuals who are breaking the law should not be allowed entry. He shared an alarming example of a man with facial tattoos, including tear drops, which symbolize murder. Musk highlighted the need to take action, as the influx of migrants is overwhelming social services, even in cities as large as New York.

The situation is dire, with over 100,000 migrants reaching New York City in the past year, putting a strain on city resources. In just one day, 11,000 migrants crossed the border from Mexico, which was the highest number in recent memory. At Eagle Pass alone, approximately 4,000 individuals crawled through razor wire and waded through the Rio Grande to enter the US.

Statistics reveal that in the past 11 months, 1.23 million migrants have sought asylum by crossing the southern border. Elon Musk, who himself is an immigrant from South Africa, also spoke with law enforcement officials during the visit to discuss the border situation. Although he encountered technical difficulties while videotaping, Musk’s concern about potential streaming issues due to high traffic indicates the gravity of the crisis.

Upon reflecting on his experience, Musk mentioned the need for better internet connectivity, highlighting the potential usefulness of Starlink, his SpaceX satellite constellation that aims to expand broadband internet access. By shedding light on the realities of the border crisis, Elon Musk’s eye-opening tour calls for immediate attention and action to address this pressing issue.
