A Testament to the Unstoppable Power of God in Guinea Bissau

In February 2023, the Asbury Revival shook the world with its incredible impact. But now, something even more extraordinary is happening in Guinea Bissau, a country in northwest Africa. With a population of 2 million people, where 70% is Muslim, Guinea Bissau is facing a religious and cultural shift towards Islam. However, amidst this growing influence, God is moving powerfully, surpassing all expectations and borders on a scale that can only be described as “Biblical proportions.”

Guinea Bissau is currently experiencing the culmination of World Harvest’s ministry, led by Evangelist Jacob Ebersole. Through social media, I witnessed thousands of young people flooding the streets, singing praises to Jesus. The testimonies pouring in from this nation are remarkable, showcasing the miraculous events taking place. I had the privilege to interview Evangelist Jacob Ebersole to gain deeper insights into this phenomenal move of God.

One exceptional testimony stands out – the president of Guinea Bissau, a Muslim himself, played a pivotal role in ensuring the crusade stage made it safely into the country. In a region where Islamic Law often persecutes Christianity, the president went against the norm and personally facilitated the passage of the crusade stage. This act, in itself, can only be attributed to the power of God. Not only did he secure its arrival, but he also attended the first night of the Gospel crusade.

Guinea Bissau, a country within the 10/40 Window known for its lack of access to the Gospel, still has many regions waiting to be reached. With the rising influence of Islam, the Christian population is becoming increasingly concerned about the future of their faith. However, the believers in Guinea Bissau are rising up with boldness, proclaiming the Gospel like never before, whilst they still have the opportunity and freedom to do so.

One notable event occurred after a simple prayer meeting at the crusade field, where thousands of teenagers spontaneously took to the streets of Bissau, the capital city, proclaiming the Gospel and singing worship songs. With a passion to reclaim their nation for Christ, young people in Guinea Bissau are on a mission.

The first night of the crusade was a tremendous success, drawing thousands from far and wide to hear the gospel. Some even traveled by canoes and boats across treacherous waters from nearby islands to be a part of this divine movement. Evangelist Jacob Ebersole describes this experience as “literally still in awe” and witnessing a move of God that seemed impossible at every turn. The crusade not only had a profound impact on the attendees but also strengthened the faith of other believers in the city who witnessed the transformation happening before their eyes.

Night after night, tens of thousands of people cried out to Jesus in repentance and faith at these open-air crusades. This incredible story is continuously unfolding. With over 18,477 documented decisions for Christ during these outreach events alone, and many more in the day-to-day evangelization efforts by local Christians, the impact is undeniable.

In my conversation with Jacob Ebersole, he emphasized their commitment to report accurate numbers and prevent superficial conversions or emotional decisions for Christ. The goal is to truly preach in a way that dissuades false conversions and focuses on genuine transformation.

As the Gospel campaign continued across Guinea Bissau, another unprecedented event unfolded. Hundreds of young people felt compelled by the Lord to travel spontaneously to the next town for the next crusade, even without arrangements for food or housing. This extraordinary demonstration of faith occurred in a heavily Muslim city, where one influential businessman initially doubted the turnout due to the city’s high Muslim population and the timing during Ramadan. However, he was left in awe as hundreds of Muslims cried out to Jesus, and he witnessed the great victory that God brought about in their midst.

We are often bombarded by bad news and negativity in the media. However, the Gospel is the “Good News” that brings joy and hope. While we celebrate God’s movement in our own nation, we should also rejoice when we see Him working powerfully in other countries, especially those that are still unreached and dominated by other religions.

After the crusades in Guinea Bissau, World Harvest continued their mission and held a crusade in Lusaka, Zambia, where over 200,000 people attended. The crowd, inspired by a stirring message of repentance, flooded the altar to let go of their idols and addictions. Lives were transformed, and over 45,000 salvations were documented.

The Gospel campaign then moved to Lima, Peru – a city known for its darkness and lawlessness. Close to 20,000 people attended the crusade, and local churches reported an influx of new families who had never been part of their congregation before. The pastors themselves felt a radical shift in the atmosphere, testifying to the undeniable presence and glory of God.

God is undeniably on the move across the globe, and it is something that should fill us with great excitement and joy. World Harvest and Jacob Ebersole are on a mission to reach the unreached and to proclaim the Gospel, glorifying God in everything they do.

During my interview with Jacob Ebersole, he shared their plans to organize the first-ever American Gospel crusade in South Carolina in 2024. Let us join together in prayer, longing for a move of God in our own country, similar to what we have witnessed in other parts of the world. The United States is in desperate need of a revival, and we eagerly anticipate what God will do.

Let us be inspired by the unstoppable power of God at work, believing that His Word will continue to spread across nations, breaking barriers, and transforming lives.
