Child stars’ lives have been known to be complex. With their hectic schedules, moving in and out of auditions and performances while juggling school? But no one thinks about the parents of these celebrities. Fortunately for us, Pattie Mallette, Justin Bieber’s mother, has written a memoir about her childhood. She has risen from the ashes, despite abuse and heartbreak, with her boy holding her hand every step of the way.

Pattie Mallette, Justin Bieber’s mother, has overcome various obstacles in her life. She was born on April 2, 1975, in Stratford, Ontario, Canada, into a single-parent family. Diane, her mother, raised her. Pattie’s father abandoned their family when she was just two years old.

Pattie’s childhood, on the other hand, was not without difficulties. She was sexually abused when she was three years old, a horrible incident that would profoundly alter her life. She struggled with shame and guilt as a result of her abuse, and as she grew older, she began to turn to drugs to dull her agony. Such tragedy caused her to condemn herself. She had carried humiliation with her for the majority of her life. “I’ve learned that carrying shame and blame and feeling like there’s something wrong with you is normal and natural for anyone who’s been through sexual abuse,” she said on the TODAY show.

Pattie Mallette was a rebellious adolescent. She began drinking and consuming marijuana after being persuaded by a famously nasty crowd. They were also known to shoplift. When she was 15, she was out drinking when she was raped on a date. She lost her virginity in this manner. This is where she hit rock bottom and attempted suicide. She spent 19 days in a psychiatric facility. While in the psychiatric facility, she met someone who helped her change her life, a pastor whom she refers to as her “spiritual father.”

Then Pattie Mallette met Justin Bieber’s father, Jeremy Bieber. The majority of their relationship was not exactly healthy, and it took them four years of on and off dating before she ultimately let him go. She became pregnant with Jeremy’s child when she was 17 years old. Many people urged her to have an abortion, but she declined. “When I got pregnant I immediately felt, whoa, now I’m responsible for another life and I really need to get my act together. “I feel like I didn’t deserve to have the most lovely child that I have,” she remarked, 37 years old. “However, we are where we are today nearly in spite of myself, thanks to God’s incredible grace and mercy.”
