The popular handyman learned the value of paying attention to his body after having a medical issue while being shot in Colorado.

Both the gorgeous carpenter on Trading Spaces and the attractive host of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition attended the flashy movie premiere last week and shared photos on Instagram.

Pennington looked sharp in his outfit of a light grey suit, brimmed hat, and white collared shirt.

The 58-year-old famous person attended to support the July 16 launch of HGTV’s Barbie’s Dreamhouse Challenge. Swinging his neon pink sledgehammer, Pennington is a member of one of eight teams transforming a home into a replica of Barbie’s well-known pink mansion.

“Last night, I was transported to the world of @barbiethemovie! Thank you, the Rock the Block performer wrote in the caption of a photo on Instagram.

Looking extremely professional. Can’t wait to see this challenge,” writes one fan. Pennington’s co-star, designer Grace Mitchell, added a comment with the words “Ty! You’re looking great!”

Two days later, Pennington published a collection of photos, the first of which featured him lying in a hospital bed. The happy event quickly became terrible. He announced to the gathering that the intensive care unit was treating the throat abscess that had prevented him from breathing.

From the red carpet to the intensive care unit, this last week has been eventful, he wrote. I’m healing but am currently fine.

Pennington provided more details about his situation, stating that after attending the Barbie movie premiere on Sunday, he flew to Colorado on Monday to start filming.

I could hardly breathe when I woke up at four in the morning on Tuesday. It turns out that the sore throat I’ve been experiencing for the past month is actually an abscess that has gotten so big that it is blocking my airway. I was intubated and rushed to the Denver ICU the very next moment. I had surgery on Wednesday, and I left the intensive care unit yesterday afternoon. An excellent reminder to pay attention to what your body is trying to tell you.

Supportive messages from fans poured in, saying things like, “Sweet and wonderful Ty, I’m shocked and sorry you were so (ill).” Since the beginning, I have been watching you on Trading Spaces. I’m so thrilled you’re getting better. Yes, pay attention to your body, and please hurry up and see a doctor.

Also contributing were friends from Trading Spaces. The former host of the program, Paige Davis, commented, “Glad you’re not dead, you ol’ coot.” The show’s most stunning designs were created by Genevieve Gorder, who continued, “Babes!!!! I’m relieved to hear that you’re unharmed.

Here’s to a Speedo recovery, said developer Brian Kleinschmidt, who took part in the Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge. And no, there was no typo there.

In reference to a photo of a message Pennington had written while under the influence of medication, Kleinschmidt said, “Also, even through heavy sedatives it’s good to see I was still in the right frame of mind… (pic. 4).” In the middle of the crisis, Pennington had wrote, “I need to put on my Speedo.”

Pennington has left the hospital and appears to be doing fine.

We are thrilled to hear that our favorite builder has been released from the hospital and is doing well.

We wish Ty Pennington luck with his recovery and sincerely hope that he pays more attention to his body so that we can continue to enjoy his talents!
