After sharing a clip of a friend’s birthday meal degenerating into turmoil as he refuses to divide the $4,600 bill evenly, an Atlanta-based TikTok maker triggered a ferocious internet debate.

TikToker Viccgotti, who has 1.4 million followers, can be seen arguing animatedly that he shouldn’t be required to split the astronomical tab for his friend’s lunch, instead insisting that he should only pay for what he consumed.

The woman, who was there to celebrate her birthday, however, gave Vicgotti the impression that she expected her friends to also pay for her meal, saying, “It’s my fing birthday, why the f should I have to pay for something on my birthday?”

“Why am I supposed to pay for something I didn’t purchase?” He answers.

The gang is seen making a ruckus in the posh restaurant as Viccgotti calls attention to everyone else’s pricey orders in the video, which has received close to a million likes in less than 24 hours. What he had self-ordered is unknown.

A context label was added to the video when it was uploaded on Twitter, indicating that it had been staged, while moderators on Reddit removed the post, noting that “staged videos are not allowed on this platform.”

We come out together and divide the bill, one woman in a vivid pink outfit said. Period!’

One person protested, standing up and saying, “You got lamb chop, you got steak, look at all they got and they talk about splitting the bill,” while the other person remained seated. You guys want to share the bill after ordering way too much,’ he said.

Viccgotti confessed in a subsequent post that he and his pal, who he has known since the third grade, are regretfully no longer friendly.

In another video, he described the events that followed, saying, “We ended up bringing the waiter over and I told him, “Don’t split anything for me, they can split if they want to, but we’re not here for that.”

The best course of action was similarly disputed among viewers of the video.

I’ll never dispute over dividing a bill. One user wrote, “I’m just going to pay for MY food order & tip, give what I want to the bday person, and leave.”

Another person remarked, “When I go out, my bill is usually the most expensive, and I always pay for myself.”

Some people, however, concentrated on the typical conduct in a posh restaurant.

A viewer remarked, “The screaming in a fancy restaurant is killing me.”

Another person added, “Y’all aren’t embarrassed screaming about the bill.”

One person said, “Y’all should’ve had that established before sitting down,” while another said that the law should have been agreed upon beforehand.
