Elton John is bidding his career in touring a tearful farewell.

The 76-year-old veteran of music concluded his nearly 50-year live touring career over the weekend with an emotional final stop at Stockholm’s Tele2 Arena as part of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.

John praised the audience for their support during the show’s final two songs, “Your Song” and, appropriately, “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.” He has been touring for the past 50 years.

“I can’t believe what a beautiful career I’ve had. How fortunate am I to play music after 52 years of unadulterated joy? But if it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t be sitting here, John said, according to The Independent. You purchased the singles, albums, and CDs, but more importantly, you purchased the concert tickets because you are aware of my enthusiasm for performing live.

He said, “Playing for you guys has been my lifeblood, and you have been simply fantastic – thank you. “I’ll always remember you guys. How could I forget after all the concerts I’ve performed? You’re in my mind, heart, and soul, and I appreciate you so much.

John gave the audience members a lengthy performance that lasted for two and a half hours. The singer sang many of his best hits, including “Bennie And The Jets,” “I Guess That’s Why They Call It The Blues,” “Tiny Dancer,” “Candle in the Wind,” and, of course, “Rocket Man.”

Coldplay’s Chris Martin made a surprise appearance on the night via a video link from Copenhagen, and the style icon changed into a few different outfits. John also emphasized that this was his final concert on the road and that he would “never be touring again.”

“I want to be grateful for everything—my spouse, my sons, and my family. I deserve it, and I don’t feel guilty about it tonight. But I want to thank the band, the team, and everyone. According to The Independent, he said, “I love you.

According to the source, John has performed at nearly 4,000 events since beginning his first tour in 1970. According to Billboard, his final set of performances broke the $900 million barrier for ticket sales, outpacing Ed Sheeran ($776.4 million) and U2 ($736.4 million).

The renowned singer shared two photos with the caption “The Final Farewell, 8 July 2023” on Instagram as she pondered on the memorable evening. In the second picture, John and his band were seen waving and bowing as confetti dropped from above the Swedish throng. The first picture showed John standing with his arms out wide.

David Furnish, John’s husband, paid tribute to the singer by sharing a cute video of him waving alongside his two sons, Zachary, 12, and Elijah, 10, from a stage side audience.

And then he leaves. 330 performances under his belt, one last trip down the Yellow Brick Road, and then finally off the road and into the sunset,” Furnish wrote in the description.

“So looking forward to our next chapter together. We love you, Daddy.”
