During a barbecue, a woman stumbled and fell; she told everyone that she was alright and that she had simply tripped over a brick due to her new shoes.
They washed her up and brought her a new plate of food. While she appeared startled, Jane continued about her business for the rest of the evening.
Jane’s husband later called to inform everyone that his wife had been admitted to the hospital – (at 6:00 PM Jane passed away.) She’d had a stroke at the Barbecue. Perhaps Jane would be here today if they had learned how to recognize the symptoms of a stroke. Some people do not die. Instead, they find themselves helpless and despondent.

A doctor claims that if he can reach a stroke victim within three hours, he can completely reverse the consequences of the stroke. He said the trick was recognizing a stroke, diagnosing it, and then getting the patient medical attention within three hours, which was difficult.

Stroke symptoms can be difficult to recognize at times. Regrettably, ignorance leads to calamity. When individuals close fail to identify the symptoms of a stroke, the stroke sufferer may suffer significant brain damage.
Doctors now believe that a bystander can detect a stroke by asking three basic questions:
S *Ask the person to SMILE.
T *Instruct the individual to Speak and SAY A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (i.e. Chicken Soup)
R *Request that he or she RAISE BOTH ARMS.
If he or she is having difficulty with ANY of these duties, contact 911 immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.
New Symptoms of a Stroke ———— Display Your Tongue
NOTE: Ask the victim to’stick’ out their tongue as another’sign’ of a stroke. If the tongue is ‘crooked,’ going to one side or the other, this is also an indicator of a stroke.
According to a cardiologist, if everyone who receives this letter shares it with ten people, at least one life will be spared.
