As a result of the proliferation of social media and its constant barrage of photos of apparently perfect-looking people, it appears that the world has become even more superficial in its evaluation of people.

Outsiders’ social media comments regarding a person’s physical appearance can make the world appear harsh, especially for those of us who don’t match the stereotyped “ideal” pattern.

Nobody knows more about this than Karine de Souza. Even at home, the Brazilian woman has spent her entire life using SPF100 sunscreen to protect herself from the sun.

Because she was diagnosed with Xeroderma Pigmentosum at the age of three, the 33-year-old has a significant risk of acquiring skin cancer.

Her “one-in-a-million” condition makes her very photosensitive because she cannot recuperate from the sun’s negative effects.

Even a brief exposure to the sun could result in a severe sunburn. It was too dangerous for her to spend much time outside the house as a child, so she spent most of her time inside.

“When I expose myself to the sun, nothing happens right away; I don’t feel anything.” But, lesions will form in the future and will need to be removed due to malignancy,” she warns.

Sun damage caused Karine to lose her bottom lip and a part of her nose, and she has had 130 other surgery to eradicate lesions.

However, she has more than simply physical difficulties. Karine is routinely subjected to verbal harassment and abuse from people of her neighborhood as well as online.

Despite her difficulties, she has found happiness and love.

Edmilson, her future husband, discovered her on Facebook and was quickly smitten by her “story and her fortitude.” He has never left Karine’s side and has always known that she was the one he would spend the rest of his life with.

It meant a lot to Karine that he embraced her three children from a previous relationship.

“He came,” she adds, “and he taught me that I could live a true love tale.”

Yet, after Karine uploaded photos of them together online, she received even more hostile comments.

According to the Daily Mail, Karine stated, “We have already seen several unpleasant comments calling me a monster, disfigured, and a zombie.”

Other readers even called Karine a “sugar mommy” due of her money, hinting that their connection wasn’t genuine.

“Since he’s a young man and pretty, that drew people’s attention, and they couldn’t believe he was with me because he genuinely liked me,” Karine explained.

Following the couple’s engagement, the photographer shot some images and posted them online with the caption:

“They met not by chance, but by a gathering of spirits, an encounter of acceptance and character and love emerged when their souls met, and today you are the inspiration to so many people who do not believe in themselves, in life, and especially in love.”

“I THANK YOU EVERY DAY FOR BEING YOU. Quit whining about your situation. Accept LIFE and yourself. Thank you very much for teaching me so much. You guys are incredible. You are so many people’s last hope. Thank you for the enormous embrace and for the amazing day we shared. “I’ll remember your smile for the rest of my life.”

Many people commented, thanking Karine and Edmilson for the beautiful images he took of them.

Karine hopes that others will follow her lead and embrace optimism.

“Be happy, smile, because life only comes once,” she advised.

“When I saw her post, I fell in love with her life story, with her strength, and for her not minding the prejudice of the people!” her husband stated in an interview.

” What he admires about her is how she handles trolls without giving a fleck! (You know what I mean) That’s the ideal reaction to the naysayers!

Karine and Edmlson were pleased when their daughter was born in 2023. Karine and her husband had been trying to conceive since 2020, thus the arrival of their daughter Zaia was a pleasant surprise.

Karine has been through a lot, but her positive attitude has helped her discover the success and joy she deserves.
