Tom Brady, the Super Bowl champion, recently opened up on the difficulties of parenting as he and his wife Gisele Bündchen live in the spotlight.

The NFL star spoke with Ford Motor Company CEO and DRIVE podcast presenter Jim Farley on how his children’s lives differ from those of other young people. Because of their parents’ popularity, Vivian Lake, Benjamin Rein, and Jack Edward are not being raised in a conventional setting, according to the quarterback. Brady faces certain parenting challenges as a result of this.

“We have cleaning personnel. We have people who prepare our food. We have individuals who will bring us to the airport if we need it…we get off an aircraft and there are people waiting for us and we are brought in,” the father added. “That’s my kids’ reality, which is the difficult part to say, people, this is not how reality truly is…what can we do about it?”

Brady essentially hopes that he can keep his children grounded while yet recognizing that they live a life of affluence. “I think we can strive to build experiences that are more along the lines of what most kids go through, even if they will still have experiences that a lot of kids never have,” he continued.

Tom Brady discusses the differences between his children’s and his own childhood.

The 45-year-old mentioned how he and his wife were raised in quite different environments, which contrasts with how they are raising their children. “My wife grew up in rural Brazil, the farthest state south, Rio Grande do Sul, in a pretty modest kind of agricultural village, and she was a really simple lady,” Brady remarked of his wife’s early days.

“Their house has two bedrooms – one for their parents and one for her and her five sisters,” he continued.

Yet, Gisele was not the only parent in the relationship who grew up in conflicting conditions. Brady commented on his own upbringing, saying, “I grew up in a middle-class home in California, my dad worked his a— off for our family.”

“My mom stayed at home [and] took care of us kids,” the athlete said, adding, “and I saw my mom work every day to cook food for us at night and wash our clothing and now they support us by going to all our games and it was fantastic and then I look at my life with my family and it’s so quick.”
