Celine Dion finally uncovered the source of her chronic health issues.

Celine Dion uploaded an emotional video on Instagram on Thursday, December 8th, revealing the root reason of her health troubles. Celine Dion’s European tour dates for next year will be canceled due to a newly discovered health condition.

“Good day, everyone. I apologize for taking so long to contact you. “I miss you all so much and can’t wait to come on stage with you and talk to you in person,” Dion added in the video.

“As you know, I’ve always been an open book, and I wasn’t ready to say anything until now. I’ve been suffering with health issues for a long time, and it’s been quite difficult for me to face these challenges and talk about what I’ve been through.

“I was just diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome, an extremely unusual neurological condition that affects around one in a million people.” While we’re still learning about this unique ailment, we now know it’s what’s been causing all of my spasms. Regrettably, these spasms impair every area of my everyday life, sometimes making it difficult for me to walk and preventing me from using my vocal chords to sing as I used to.”

According to the National Institutes of Health, stiff-person syndrome, or SPS, is an uncommon neurological illness having certain characteristics of an autoimmune disease.

Due to health difficulties, the singer had to cancel her tour dates.

“It pains me to tell you now that this means I won’t be able to resume my tour in Europe in February,” she choked up. “I have a wonderful team of doctors working with me to help me get better, as well as my darling children who are encouraging me and giving me hope.”

Celine admits that getting better is a difficult task.

“I’m working hard with my sports medicine therapist every day to regain my strength and ability to perform, but it’s been a battle,” she admitted. “I just know how to sing.” It’s what I’ve always done and what I enjoy doing the most.

“I really miss you. I miss seeing all of you and playing for you on stage. “I always give it my all when I do my shows, but my condition now allows me to do so right now,” she concluded.

Dion concluded her statement with a sense of optimism, thanking her followers.

By the end of her speech, Dion had injected a note of hope, thanking her fans: “I want to thank you so much for your encouraging wishes, love, and support on my social media.” “That means a lot to me,” she explained. “Look for yourself. Take care. I adore you all and hope to see you all again soon.”

“I’m getting therapy from my doctors and taking medication, but I’m still having spasms and it’s taking me a lot longer to recover than I had thought,” she said in an April Instagram video.

“SPS is characterized by fluctuating muscle rigidity in the trunk and limbs, as well as heightened sensitivity to stimuli such as noise, touch, and emotional discomfort, which can set off muscle spasms,” according to the National Institutes of Health. “The disease is distinguished by abnormal postures, which are frequently slumped and tensed.”

This mystery illness affects women twice as often as men. According to the institute, loud noises might potentially cause spasms or falls.

The NIH reports that SPS “is frequently misdiagnosed as Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, psychosomatic sickness, or anxiety and phobia.”

All tour dates have been rescheduled for the first two quarters of 2024.

We’ll keep her in our prayers and hope she recovers as soon as possible. We miss you and your beautiful voice!
