Christina Applegate has hinted at a possible retirement.

The Dead to Me actress, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2021, told the Los Angeles Times that her final performance as an actor would most likely be at the SAG Awards.

On February 27, the actress graced the red carpet with her 12-year-old daughter Sadie Grace. She walked with a cane emblazoned with the letters “FU MS,” which had become her new normal.

The renowned actress was nominated for outstanding performance by a female actor in a comedy series for her portrayal as Jen Harding in Netflix’s Dead to Me.

This was her sixth overall nomination.

Unfortunately, we won’t be seeing much of the 51-year-old in the near future.

“It’s probably my last awards event as an actor, so it’s kind of a huge deal,” Applegate stated before the show.

“Right now, I couldn’t picture getting up at 5 a.m. and spending 12 to 14 hours on a set; I don’t have that in me right now,” Applegate revealed.

The Married with Children alum was diagnosed with MS while filming the third and final season of Dead to Me in 2021.

She had to leave the performance to seek treatment, but she was determined to finish it. It took her months, though, after the film’s premiere, to be able to watch herself in Married with Children.

“I don’t like watching myself in pain,” she said.

“I also gained 40 pounds as a result of inactivity and drugs, and I didn’t look or feel like myself.”

As she returned to filming, she noticed things had changed drastically.

“I was a wreck every day, but most of that wreck happened in my trailer by myself. But there were times on set when I’d break down and say, ‘I can’t, we have to take a break, I need a half-hour,’ and everyone was so supportive that it was OK.”

Applegate was asked about her life following Dead to Me in November.

“It’s about discovering what I’m capable of,” she explained to Variety.

Christina Applegate walks barefoot for the first time since learning she has Multiple Sclerosis. She is no longer able to work long hours for days on end. Applegate now has to learn how to live with a chronic condition.

“I’m just getting started with this. So I’m trying to figure things out while also grieving over the person I used to be. I need to find a location that is as nice as my set, where they won’t think I’m a diva if I say, ‘Look, I can only work five hours.’”

If Applegate wishes to return to acting, she thinks she must find “a location that will allow me to [work five hours] if I’m not the star.”

Despite her improved health, she is still dubious about acting as a career.

“I’m quite certain this was it, you know? But who knows? I’m probably going to become sick of being in my room. I’d like to create things and develop things. “I have a lot of ideas in my head that I just need to put into action.”

If producing or development don’t work out, she wants to “do a s— ton of voice-overs to generate some money to make sure my daughter is fed and we’re home.”

Whatever Christina Applegate does in the future, I hope she acknowledges the wonderful service she has provided to fans over the years.
