This is what Ashley Bratcher from ‘My 600-Lb Life’ looks like today
Many of us have different ways of handling stress. Some find solace in taking leisurely walks or catching up with friends, while others might find themselves seeking comfort through food.
Though indulging in food can temporarily lift our spirits, it often brings long-term health issues. This was a reality that Ashley Bratcher, a 27-year-old wife and mother from Texas, had to confront. After her mother left her and her siblings at a young age, Ashley found herself turning to unhealthy eating as a way to cope with the pain.
Ashley reflected, “If my mother had been paying attention, she could’ve changed a lot of things. As the oldest, I felt I had to protect my brother and sister, so I took on their burdens.” Consequently, her weight eventually soared to 725 pounds.
Seeking a change, Ashley applied to be on TLC’s show “My 600-Lb Life” to get help from renowned weight loss surgeon, Dr. Younan Nowzaradan. Known for aiding many in reclaiming their health, Dr. Now became her guide.
He delivered a harsh reality: if Ashley didn’t alter her lifestyle, she might not reach 30. This message was the push she needed to regain control over her life.
Simple activities were beyond Ashley’s capability back then. Her 5-year-old son stepped in to assist her in daily tasks. She revealed, “He’s my legs, helping with almost everything. Without him, I’d be lost.” Determined to improve her life for her son’s sake, she decided to make a change.
Before qualifying for gastric bypass surgery, Dr. Now placed Ashley on a strict calorie-restricted program. Showing incredible determination, she shed 123 pounds before the procedure. The operation went smoothly, and she lost an astonishing total of 255 pounds thereafter, marking a new chapter in her life.
By 2018, Ashley appeared on “My 600-Lb Life – Where Are They Now?” revealing that she now weighed less than 300 pounds and no longer sought comfort in food. With newfound confidence, Ashley embraced activities she previously couldn’t do, such as shopping and taking long showers.
On her Instagram account, Ashley shares her journey, inspiring many with her transformation. She emphasizes, “Surgery is just a tool. It doesn’t change your mindset.” Her story continues to attract followers who admire her dedication.
Ashley is also supported by her husband, Jack, with whom she celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary. Their shared journey has bolstered her steps towards a healthier life.
Watching Ashley’s transformation over time fills us with joy and admiration. We’re so thrilled for you, Ashley!
