The October days have been rather unusual, especially with both King Charles and the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, resting in the same London hospital. This situation marks a challenging health moment for the royal family since an unfortunate lobster dish incident some years ago.
Yet, there’s another curiosity – why haven’t Kate’s children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, visited her during her stay?
It’s been over ten days since the princess, a mother to these three youngsters, was admitted for abdominal surgery. That’s over a week since they’ve had the chance to see their mother.
Following the announcement of Kate’s hospital admission, Prince William has been seen leaving the hospital, evidently trying to balance his duties as a parent and his royal responsibilities. Reports from sources like the Sun and the Daily Mail mention that he has been a regular visitor, checking on Kate every day.
This dedication is touching, of course, but questions linger about why the children haven’t been brought in to see their mom.
Also on the list of absent visitors are Kate’s devoted family, including her parents Carole and Michael Middleton, and her siblings Pippa and James. Kate has shared a close relationship with her brother James, who has publicly acknowledged her support during his struggles with mental health.
The situation raises questions about whether the privacy granted to Kate is also shielding the children from a difficult reality.
The Daily Mail’s royal editor Rebecca English explains that the media has agreed not to station photographers or reporters outside the hospital, allowing Kate and the other patients much-needed privacy.
This privacy agreement means that William or other family members could easily escort the children to visit their mother without the world watching.
An explanation provided by the Sun suggested that William and Kate aim for her absence to seem as normal as possible for the kids. While understandable during school days, the weekends open another set of questions.
On weekends, rather than visiting their mother, the children have reportedly been enjoying time at their grandparents’ residence in Bucklebury. Despite the care and treats offered by grandparents, one could argue about whether this compares to the comfort of a visit with their mom.
The family’s residence, Adelaide Cottage, is merely a short drive from the hospital, making logistics unlikely the reason for the prolonged absence of the kids.
When you consider the effort the royal family has put into creating an image of committed parenting, highlighting how William and Kate prioritize family time, the absence becomes more surprising. The family even takes time off during school holidays to spend quality time together.
These facts seem to set a different expectation, leading to wonder why a visit to their mother isn’t arranged.
Children may not want to see a parent in a hospital setting, as it can be unsettling. However, a brief visit could reassure them that their mother is recovering well.
The notion that royals don’t typically visit one another in hospitals doesn’t hold as much weight today. The royal family is gradually moving towards becoming modern and emotionally connected.
King Charles himself quickly visited Kate upon arriving at the hospital. Queen Camilla also made several visits to her husband in a brief period.
This time, when closeness could be so important, the royal family’s usual customs seem to have taken a detour.
It’s at this juncture that one might consider unusual remedies, such as a little bit of spiritual cleansing, to alleviate any negative energy overshadowing Buckingham Palace.
