Prince Harry has spoken out about the rumors suggesting he and Meghan Markle are going through a divorce. The speculation began due to their separate appearances at recent social events.
During the week, Harry participated in the New York Times’ 2024 DealBook Summit in New York City while Meghan attended the Paley Honors gala in Beverly Hills. These separate engagements led to the rumor mill kicking into high gear, with many speculating about the state of their relationship.
At the summit, a journalist from the New York Times brought up the swirling rumors by mentioning that people are constantly intrigued by Harry and Meghan’s lives. The journalist pointed out their different locations and questioned Harry, “Why are you both attending separate events? What does that indicate?”
Harry lightheartedly replied, “Because you invited me, that’s why I’m here!” before adding humorously, “It’s certainly not a good thing that people are so invested in our whereabouts.”
He went on to joke about the media’s portrayal of their relationship: “According to what I read, we’ve moved houses and divorced a dozen times. It’s really hard to keep track!” Harry expressed empathy for those who believe the rumors, saying, “I feel sorry for the trolls whose hopes are flared up only to find the rumors aren’t true. I genuinely feel sorry for them.”
Harry candidly discussed his experiences with the press, reflecting on the impact of fabricated stories, both personal and about others. “From childhood, I’ve been living under such scrutiny,” he remarked. “It makes you question the truth of what’s printed and how it affects public perception.”
Reflecting on the potential dangers of misinformation, Harry emphasized how growing up in such an environment shapes one’s understanding of reality and challenges the credibility of media stories.
