This week, during his visit across the pond, Donald Trump introduced a new 18-hole course to the world at his Trump International Scotland in Aberdeenshire.
Golf has always been a top hobby for Trump, and he made sure to indulge in it during his time in the UK. Though his visit had private and diplomatic aspects, involving discussions with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Trump still found time to enjoy several rounds of golf.
First Lady Melania Trump, stepping into the spotlight for a moment, hasn’t held back her thoughts on her husband’s deep-seated love for the sport. Though the President is quite enamored with golf, Melania has shared her perspectives on whether she engages in the pastime herself.

Not too long ago, Melania playfully remarked about Donald’s golfing enthusiasm, confirming she doesnโt play golf herself these days. โNo, I donโt play golf,โ she noted, hinting that a joint golf outing isnโt in their near future, although she did concede that she once played the game.
A recent video has stirred quite the conversation, featuring Trump at the golf course, embroiled in yet another controversy over alleged โcheatingโ during his Scottish venture.
The short clip, shared on X, showed Trump’s caddies dropping a ball onto the course ahead of his arrival, leading to speculations as Trump later approached the ball as though it was his shot. The video, flagged by PatriotTakes, a group focused on raising awareness about political extremism, has gathered over four million views since its release on July 27.

Such allegations are not new to Trump’s golfing history, which has often been clouded with claims of rule-bending. Rick Reilly, a previous Sports Illustrated columnist, once observed, โGolf is like bicycle shorts; it shows a lot about a person. For Trump, it reveals an inability to accept losing, going so far as to cheat. I’ve played with him; once, he took seven mulligans and even a โgive-me chip-in.โ I’d never heard of that term before.โ
While in the UK, Trump managed to find himself in the middle of another controversy, taking what some interpreted as indirect jabs at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, while warmly speaking of the royal family. Trump stated, โSpending time with Charles, Camilla, and the family, I’ve found them to be remarkable people.
Truly, they are very admirable.โ However, he cryptically added that some others are not as great, suggesting, โThe UK is fortunate; it could have less favorable individuals. It’s not certain I can say much more, but itโs true.โ Keir Starmer, though silent during Trump’s comments, got a word in edgewise, asserting, โwe’re very lucky.โ
