Elton John, the legendary musician at 77, has shared a deeply personal update about his health, revealing his struggle with blindness.

In September, Elton spoke about recovering from an eye infection that affected his vision. He took to Instagram, explaining, โItโs a slow journey, and it will take time before my sight recovers in the affected eye.โ
When asked on Good Morning America about his future music plans, he replied, โIโm not sure yet. Itโs been quite some time since Iโve worked on new music, and Iโve got to push myself to get back to it.โ
He continued, โSadly, I lost sight in my right eye back in July due to an infection I caught in the south of France. Itโs been four months without sight, and my other eye isnโt doing too well either.โ
โThereโs hope itโll improve, but right now, itโs tough. I can chat like this, but recording in the studio is challenging because I canโt see the lyrics,โ Elton elaborated.
During a performance at Londonโs Dominion Theatre in ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ on December 1st, Elton admitted to the audience, โSome of you may know I’ve had vision problems, and I’ve now lost my sight.โ
โI couldn’t see the show, but I truly enjoyed it nonetheless. To my husband, whoโs been my pillar during this time โ thank you for being my support when I couldnโt attend many rehearsals.โ
โWhile itโs hard for me to see the performance, the sound was splendid, and Iโm grateful youโre here tonight,โ he shared with the audience.
In a heartfelt conversation with the Radio Times, Elton expressed, โI want to witness our childrenโs weddings, though I fear I might not be around when that time comes.โ
His husband, David, added, โThat statement shook me. I’ve always felt Elton would be eternal โ we all do because his energy is so boundless. But this situation makes us face the unyielding reality.โ
The couple, married since 2014, is parents to two sons, Zachary and Elijah.
