Elton John Opens Up About Losing His Sight in Emotional Update

Elton John, the legendary musician at 77, has shared a deeply personal update about his health, revealing his struggle with blindness.

In September, Elton spoke about recovering from an eye infection that affected his vision. He took to Instagram, explaining, “It’s a slow journey, and it will take time before my sight recovers in the affected eye.”

When asked on Good Morning America about his future music plans, he replied, “I’m not sure yet. It’s been quite some time since I’ve worked on new music, and I’ve got to push myself to get back to it.”

He continued, “Sadly, I lost sight in my right eye back in July due to an infection I caught in the south of France. It’s been four months without sight, and my other eye isn’t doing too well either.”

“There’s hope it’ll improve, but right now, it’s tough. I can chat like this, but recording in the studio is challenging because I can’t see the lyrics,” Elton elaborated.

During a performance at London’s Dominion Theatre in ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ on December 1st, Elton admitted to the audience, “Some of you may know I’ve had vision problems, and I’ve now lost my sight.”

“I couldn’t see the show, but I truly enjoyed it nonetheless. To my husband, who’s been my pillar during this time – thank you for being my support when I couldn’t attend many rehearsals.”

“While it’s hard for me to see the performance, the sound was splendid, and I’m grateful you’re here tonight,” he shared with the audience.

In a heartfelt conversation with the Radio Times, Elton expressed, “I want to witness our children’s weddings, though I fear I might not be around when that time comes.”

His husband, David, added, “That statement shook me. I’ve always felt Elton would be eternal – we all do because his energy is so boundless. But this situation makes us face the unyielding reality.”

The couple, married since 2014, is parents to two sons, Zachary and Elijah.
