The meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump at the White House was marked by tension and didn’t conclude on a positive note. It mirrored a previous meeting that also ended in dispute.
The Financial Times reported a clash developed during their talks when Zelenskyy’s attempt to secure Tomahawk missiles was unsuccessful. Trump had expressed hesitation about deploying the US missile cache, even though, days prior, he had pondered sending missiles to aid Ukraine against Russia.

Trump publicly stated, โI have a duty to ensure our country remains fully stocked, as you can never predict the events of war and peace. Ideally, we would hope they donโt require Tomahawks. It would be better if the war was over, to be frank.โ
The report also divulged that Trump pressured Zelenskyy to accept proposals from Russian President VladimirโฏPutin, which would have effectively led to Ukraine capitulating and withdrawing from its remaining territories in the Donbas. Trump reportedly warned Zelenskyy, โIf he (Putin) desires, he will bring destruction.โ
Trump Allegedly Grew Very Angry, Swore Repeatedly

The meeting resembled little more than a “shouting match,” with Trump reportedly venting his frustrations audibly, and even tossing a map across the table.
Trump allegedly exclaimed his frustration, saying, โThis red line, I have no idea where this is. I’ve never been there,โ pointing to different territories on the map.
After the meeting, Trump took to social media, stating, โToo much blood has been spilled, and boundaries drawn by War and Bravery. They should halt where they stand. Let both claim Victory, and let History judge!โ
Such events underscore the exceedingly high tensions and intricacies involved when world leaders dealt with the ongoing conflict in Ukraine โ a matter that captured the worldwide spotlight as opinions and political stakes ran high.
