Iconic singer and actress Cher recently opened up during an interview with The Guardian about her apprehensions concerning the future, especially with the potential political climate changes. In a heartfelt discussion, she shared her anxieties about the possible re-election of former President Donald Trump.
Cher candidly admitted that she isn’t sure she could cope with another term under Trump’s leadership. Reflecting on the toll the previous term took on her, she revealed how she narrowly avoided serious stress-related health issues.
“If he manages to be re-elected, I just might have to leave [the country],” Cher stated, contemplating the extreme measure she might have to take if the political tides don’t change.
Her concerns aren’t limited to her personal well-being; Cher is deeply worried about the societal and legislative impacts on transgender individuals.
As a vocal advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, this issue strikes particularly close to home. She referenced how, during recent times, legislation targeting transgender rights has increased alarmingly.
“It’s something like 500 bills that they’re trying to pass,” she noted, highlighting the scope of the legislative challenges facing the transgender community.
With passion, Cher described an evening she spent with two transgender women. The occasion was poignant, especially considering her own son, Chaz Bono, is transgender.
During the conversation, Cher stressed the importance of unity and advocacy, expressing the sentiment: “We have to stand together.” Concerns were raised about the intentions behind these legislative movements, and Cher voiced her skepticism about their motives, worrying about the potential consequences on the lives of transgender individuals.
