The cherished and renowned actor Gene Hackman, aged 95, along with his wife Betsy Arakawa, 63, were discovered deceased in their residence in Santa Fe this past Wednesday.

The authorities have confirmed their unfortunate passing although the exact cause of death remains a mystery at this stage, as foul play does not currently stand as a suspect.

Sheriff Adan Mendoza from Santa Fe County has stated that an initial death investigation is currently underway and that they are in the process of obtaining a search warrant.

The couple was found in distinct parts of their home—Hackman in the mudroom and Arakawa located in a bathroom adjacent to a space heater. Authorities also found a bottle of prescription medication and various pills scattered within the bathroom.

Elizabeth, who is Hackman’s daughter, spoke with TMZ and shared her concerns that toxic fumes might be involved, with carbon monoxide being a potential culprit.

A gas company is presently assisting with the ongoing investigation. Indications suggest that the couple may have been deceased for a considerable period of time, as their remains showed signs of partial mummification.

Gene Hackman, celebrated as a double Academy Award winner, graced the silver screen in over 80 memorable films, some of them being “Bonnie and Clyde,” “The French Connection,” and “Superman.”

He bid farewell to acting back in 2004 to explore his passion for writing novels. Hackman and Arakawa, a pianist who retired from her musical career, enjoyed their matrimonial life since their wedding in 1991.
